The 27th edition of the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting international wine competition brought us good news. In addition to a Silver Medal, Quinta de Santa Cristina wines also conquered a Gold Medal! Discover which wines were distinguished in the contest.
We wanted to get our of the comfort zone and produce a wine from a grape variety that, unlike most of the ones we use in the production of our wines, it is not native from the Vinho Verde region.
Quinta de Santa Cristina produces sparkling wines since 2008 and they are all brut, which means they have a sugar concentration of less than 12g/L. To produce our sparkling wines we use the traditional/classic method.
Batoca is a very special grape variety for us… Besides the difficulty on producing it, it can find the perfect conditions in Quinta de Santa Cristina’s terroir. Why this grape variety is our baby girl?
Quinta de Santa Cristina Reserva 2017 white wine awarded as “Best of Show” at the Mundus Vini contestPosted on 17 de September, 2020
Quinta de Santa Cristina Reserva 2017 white wine was awarded Gold Medal at the 26th edition of the Spring Tasting 2020 of Mundus Vini – The Grand International Wine Award contest.
In the beginning of 2020, a special wine from 2017’s vintage was highlighted. We had released a Great Reserve from 100% of Alvarinho grapes and, in order to do justice to the name, it had been launched in a Great size – a Magnum bottle (1500ml) that promises to shine at the opening time. Each simple detail of this bottle tells a little bit of the estate as well as all the stages included in the bottle production, since the harvest until the labelling.
